I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 4X4 (4.8L V-8) and the error code indicates a problem with the TCC Pulse Width Modulation Solenoid. The usual auto parts stores indicate it is a dealer item but it seems like Rockauto.com is able to get them. However, when I look at the selection

Pulse Width Modulation Solenoid

I have no clue how to figure out which one to order. Can someone tell me where to look on the tranny to find the appropriate codes? It seems like whatever numbers I need are not visible from underneath. TIA.

Pulse width modulation solenoid? Doesn’t exist by that name. You mean maybe the pressure control solenoid? Give me the DTC out of the module.

I would just compare what you have to the picture and description. Doubt there was that many differences on a 4L60E - they all look to be the same. Just match the connector style and color, and you should be good to go.

But don’t be fooled into thinking that just because you have a DTC for it means that the solenoid is actually the cause. I’ve seen many valve bodies wear out at the solenoid and cause fluid blow by making it set the same DTC’s. Any hydraulic issues could cause the DTC to set as well, for example, a worn piston, crack in valve body. You could also have a trans wiring harness problem. Just wouldn’t be surprised if the solenoid doesn’t fix it is all I’m saying. If we knew the code we could help further and I could give you some diagnostic steps so you’re not wasting your time.

Nope. If you look at the link it is indeed a PWM solenoid..

Thanks. I'll have to pull the code again and get back to you as I don't remember the exact code, only the meaning.
