Oil pump failure

2014 Silverado 1500.  Have 40850 miles.   Oil pump failed with no prior warning.  Heading to work and the low oil pressure/stop engine warning came on.  Had it towed to the dealer,  they told me oil pump failed, came apart and there is metal shavings all through the engine.  Not certain what they are doing at this point

That really sucks. Keep us posted on the outcome and especially any causes they might have come up with. I've lost track of the warranty Wars. Is your drivetrain still under warranty?

Yes it's still under power train.   Going to dealer tomorrow morning to discuss.

That's surprising. The oil pump also went out of my dad's 2007 6.0 2500 at about 60k. They covered it under warranty. It now has 160k and going strong

the oil pump was an issue on the earlier 6.0 engines, but this is the first I've heard of the 2014+ 5.3Ls
