Clear Coated Rims

I just bought a set of used Escalade rims on Ebay and one of them has a rather deep scratch in the clearcoat. Is there an easy way to repair or minimize the appearence of it?

Is the scratch all the way down to the aluminum? If not, you can get a rubbing compound (or 2000 grit sandpaper and water--wet sand) to smooth out the scratch. Just keep inspecting it to ensure you don't rub through the clear. If you still notice a groove, polish and use clearcoat to touch up the scratch. If you do this carefully, it will not be very noticible. If it is down to the aluminum, the best way to fix is to have the wheel stripped and reclearcoated. Good luck.

No the scratch isn`t all the way throught the clearcoat but the edges are pretty raggedy. I already have a line on a mint set and will be installing them soon.
