hey folks .I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado . went for a state inspection yesterday . they told me that they are not working . they changed the bulbs and no luck . I checked the fuses and all is fine . I read that there is some sort of block on the rear bumper .that the problem could be in . found at the sockets there is no power . with test light . then looked at fuses. to night I will drop spare tire and check for power at this so called block. any body have any idea what this block is or what the problem might be. thank you for any help

The plate lights share the same fuse as the left and right parking lights. I know you said you checked the fuses but I would look for a fuse labeled LR Park or RR Park.

The lights go to that block you are talking about under the spare tire. There is a bank of plugs that go to that block. Unplug and try replugging them, not sure which one exactly is for the wireing harness for those lights.

yesterday after work found that there is power to the distribution plug . 4 positive wires and 4 negative wires . 4 positive wires have power to them at the plug but it does not pass down the harness to the light sockets . the wiring harness that have the sockets have 2 positive wires and 2 negative wires .one each running to the light sockets . so why does the plug that the wiring harness plugs to have 4 positive and 4 negative if they are only going to use 2 positive and negative that leaves 2 of each not being used .spare +/- set of contact points . time to take the wiring harness apart with the light sockets .

so I thought that I would update  this post . Sunday 5/6/18 found the problem .after verifying that all 4 hot and ground pins were ok. it has to be in the harness that plugs in and go's to the plate lights . verified that none of the wirers were broken .it has to be corroded sockets nope . now puzzled went back under truck with harness and noticed that it can plug in only one way . but was noticed is the 4 hot wires at top left and the two hot wires going to plate sockets are on bottom left . same as grounds 4 bottom right and the two ground wires top right .now connect together and they don't plug in had to swap at plug and by the back of the plug the new spots for the female receptacle's there is a small plastic pin that has to be removed in order to repopulate the plug it came from the factory this way . if somebody did this there would be evidence of the plastic pin being broken out. Now that doesn't mean someone could of swapped the harness out at the dealer ship. the two extra hot and grounds are for backup assist
