Interesting note regarding engine running while stationary in the heat

I know there’s a lock out prevention strategy.  Not sure what the logic is, but I do know that my wife inadvertently locked the door (we’re guessing when she vacuumed the door handle/switch area but that’s a post-event recreation) while the ignition was on and all other doors were shut. Boom.

while standing there in the heat, I even thought to myself how ridiculous it was that I continued to try each door as I walked around.   Like the OnStar fairy godmother was going to feel sorry for me.  Lesson two was, recognizing I can go more than 30 minutes without checking my phone.  Lesson three (of about 12) was there’s no reason I couldn’t have walked inside where it was cool.  I guess I wanted to be there to watch it when it caught fire?  Stupid

Chalk it up to $h!t happens.

I'm a spare key person myself. Just in case, because I know I'll lose any common sense when something like that happens.

This. Saved my ass yesterday at son's baseball tourney. Ran a bunch of gear to truck in major heat and left keys with wife. Luckily had my phone. Almost at the end of the free 5 years, and not sure I will pay monthly for it. Maybe $25 a year would do it...

its a shame its not for the lifetime of truck , all the electronics and software will be useless on this truck when mine runs out , who is going to pay a phone bill to use your truck
