Hi everybody !!

I have a 2015 Silverado 1500. 5.3lts

I'm going to change the compressor of the ac system I was reading  that I should add 4 ounces of oil into the compressor. Besides the oil that I add to the compressor, also I read that  I have to add 2 more ounces to low pressure port??

Anybody Help me please!

Thank you

A lot depends on the condition of the current compressor. Is it noisey ( metallic), locked up, exploded internally? Then you need to get the system flushed.

Otherwise, it depends on where the new comp is from. GM or aftermarket. The procedure for a GM compressor is to drain the old comp. If the total amount drained and collected by recovery of the freon is less than 1.4oz. no additional oil is required. A new GM compressor comes with 1.4oz. If more than 1.4oz is

collected, additional oil is required. Subtract 40 ml (1.4 oz) from the sum of removed oil (oil drained + oil recovered). ADD the calculated difference to the A/C compressor or by filling the A/C system. Now, if the new compressor is an aftermarket, follow the directions that should included. At no point would I add 4 or 6 ounces.

I am by no means an A/C expert, but I generally just replace the part, and fill her back up with Freon. I figure that the oil does not evaporate with the Freon, so most of it is still in the system somewhere. Never had a problem yet.

Thank you guy's

Is the same oil that you  add into the compressor and the oil that is added to system by  low pressure  port?

^^^^^^^ All good info.  A cratered compressor blowing trash requires a flush and probable replacement of the condenser since its passages are too small to flush and very likely to be plugged. And contrary to some on here, a vacuum should always be applied to a system that has been open to remove air and moisture and to check for leaks prior to installing refrigerant. Refrigerant oil is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture easily. Moisture and air are non condensables in a refrigeration system and will cause high head pressure as the air will become trapped in the condenser reducing it's effectiveness and also reducing the cooling capabilities of the system.

Most compressor warranties require you to replace the receiver/drier at this time also.

Oil that is added to a compressor is the same oil that is in the system. The oil circulates throughout the system being carried along with the refrigerant. Most compressors have no sump to store oil

Ok.. Thank you for your information!

I'm going to change the compressor this monday..  Do you recommend me add oil inside the compressor before install it ? Or install it without oil and add oil  by low pressure port after install compressor?..

What do you think about the  can with oil and freon together?  This add enough oil to system ?

Thank you again !

This is a pic from compressor now.

The clutch   It's not working.

it only seems that it activates and turns very slowly at certain times and then it stops and comes back, to do this several times.

Sounds like you've got a clutch issue. If it is simply not engaging fully then compressor will not turn at the proper speed. Clutch can be changed without changing compressor

I was thinking the same clutch issue..

But I can buy the clutch  same price a full compressor!  I'm going  to change  everything!.

Thank you
