06 Sierra 5.3 exhaust

my 06 sierra (5.3) has Y pipes with no cats and no mufflers. and it pops/rattles. would a simple flow master muffler cancel out the popping and make it sound better? would i need to put cats on?

Sounds like a diy'r did some mods. Cat needed to pass inspection, better hangers to eliminate the pips and rattles, muffler to dampen the output.

If your running strait pipes, I would throw some cheap glass packs or maybe a baffled muffler on there. Might add some cutouts.

Flowmasters generally bring out the popping and rattling, especially when the baffles break loose.

I like the large Magnaflow mufflers for a civilized sound.

I believe that Magnaflow mufflers produces better sound.

I have a magnaflow now and I don't like it.  it's too quiet.  if you want quiet, then get a magnaflow.  hell, i'm about to replace this muffler with a black widow muffler and I'll give it to you if you're close.  save you some money.  I'm around Memphis.
