Does the 1-2 Accumulator Require 1 or 2 Springs?

Recommended Posts

I'm replacing my 1-2 accumulator.  4L60E 2005.

The old accumulator came out with 2 springs: one small and one larger.

The new accumulator (ACDelco) came with only the one smaller inner spring.

See attached.  New on left, old setup on right.  Should I be putting the old large spring in or not?

The results are in.  The 1-2 accumulator replacement with just one inner spring was successful.  Shifts so smooth you almost can't even tell.

If anyone comes across this thread with a hard shift from 1-2 at low acceleration but shifts normal with hard acceleration, replace your 1-2 accumulator.
