Electric Brake Controller Wiring

:sigh:I need a quick response on this one if possible. I have a 2001 Silverado 4X4 which has the HD towing package on it. Part of the package includes prewiring to the back of the truck. to enable the use of an electric brake controller in the cab, I need to install a "Instrument Panel Jumper Wiring Harness" which is included in the package. I have found where the harness plugs into, but be darned if I can locate the harness. They show it in the owners manual, but I have spent 2 days looking for this harness and can't get any help from GM. Can anyone help PLEASE! Family is waiting to go on vacation...

Look under the bed in front of the left rear wheel. there is a plastic cover there. Take it off and I believe you will find your harness in there. Check out your owner's manual, I was looking at one for a 2002 and it showed that as one of the locations.

I'm assuming you are in need of the pigtail that you plug into the fuse block and wire your brake controller into...

My '01 didn't come with the pigtail harness although the truck was already prepped. I bought mine either at the dealer or the local RV store or Walmart(I can't remember which).

If you already have the 7-prong plug at the back of your truck, you will need to get this harness and plug it into the fuse block behind the E-Brake peddle. It goes in the top row, second hole from the left. You will also have to install a "Maxi" fuse in the electrical Center under the hood. I think it goes in the "Stud 1" location.

When wiring the pigtail into the Brake Controller, take time to connect the wires correctly, because they don't necessarily connect color to color... They are labeled and you will have to pick which ones go where.

On some years the harnes and fuse were supplied and were located in the glovebox...
