Defrost blowing even when defrost is not activated?

I noticed this the other day.  It has been real humid here lately, & hot too.  Was driving home from work, AC on (defrost off/not activated), yet the cold AC air is blowing out of the defrost vents onto the windshield & side front windows causing the outside humidity to form into fog onto the windows in that area.  That normal?

yes normal my 2014 does this as well even if you select the foot mode a small amount still comes out the defrost it is explained in the owner manual
