I got a rebuilt stock Gen 1 350 with a carb from a 1974 car so not a ton of HP.  I want to put it in a 2000 Blazer.  I know all about the radiator, new mounts, exhaust ect.   What I dont know is how to get the transmission to shift or the electronics (if even needed ) to work.  I wont need an ECM.  I just want to hook up the ignition wire to the + side of the distributor and go.  Will the trans still shift and just not have a passing gear  or not work at all?????

IAM guessing that your sing the turbo hydramatic 350 trans? A transmission cooler,  preferably mounted behind the grille,  the vacuum modulator line needs to have a point to hook to,  back of the intake usually,  and a kickdown linkage assy from your donor ride, will get you rolling.

Aside from the new tranny mount crossmember location and altered driveshaft length,  of course.  No computer,  ecu, or any of the other modern day crap needed!

You have 2 simple direction to go in, since your dealing with an older motor, get a TH 400 or TH 350 trans dirt cheap.

The 4l60e needs the ECM to function properly

You can easily get misdirected if you go the electronic route. Old school motor, ...old school trans.
