GM Car starter

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share some news with everyone.  I bought a 2018 Silverado WT a month ago and it didn't come with the car starter but I wanted one put in.  I also wanted it to be compatible with OnStar, but the guys at our two local dealerships didn't know if this was possible.

Turns out it is.  OnStar will add the programming of an added starter to their services so the truck can be started through their app as well.

If GM was smart, they’d do what Volvo does. Every car leaves the factory with remote start capability. If you decide you want remote start, You just have to bring it to a dealer and for a fee have it ‘turned on’ with a software update. No wrenching or wiring needed.

That's awesome, I'll give them a call tomorrow.  They charge you anything extra for having the added feature?

Just had to pay for the cost of putting the starter in, which here is $350cad.  Not cheap but still significantly less than other starters that can work with the phone.
