Air intake 350 TBI

I have a 95 K1500 350 TBI and am wondering if removing the airbox that the connects to the fenderwell will gain me anything. It it the piece that is at the very beginning of the intake system on TBI's. Is this for sound reduction ? Does anyone make something to replace this ?

Thay black box is a resonator and it is used to quiet down the intake under heavy throttle conditions. Getting rid of it will remove a restriction in your exhaust system. You can either buy a section of PVC pipe to replace the box, and paint it black, or you can try to track down a piece of flex tube that GM makes that eminiates this box. I have the flex tube and I like it. If the sound bothers you, you can modify the resonator to be less restrictive. It is self-explanitory once you get it off.

I see some kits out there that replace the entire stock cold air system. Are there any recommendations from people that have had any experience with these products ?

Thanks

I'd get rid of the snorkel that runs through the fenderwell. That is where the real restriction is. If you can route another tube through there, you would notice a difference.
