2000 GMC Sierra Security Light Always on

JReed

Question

2000 GMC Sierra 4.8L 4X4 regular car long bed, the truck is an auction flood vehicle and was purchased as is.

I am having a issue with the truck. The security light stays on 24/7 until it drains the battery. The truck will start, run, and drive. The abs light comes on when the vehicle is running. I am not sure if it is related or not. I am aware of the security relearn procedure but that is usually done when the truck wont start. Mine runs. Any ideas? I am aware of the TBC fuse and will check it tonight. Are there grounds or anything else I can check also.

You have just found out why they write off flood damaged cars. You can go broke trying to fix these over time.

The only grounds that may cause issues eventually are if there are 4 or 5 ground wires inside the harness all connected together. These types of ground connections should fail after some time.

I knew why they write them off. Also the same reason I was able to purchase it so cheap. Its just a project to work on and have little to no money in it so it works for me. I will figure it out. Thanks for the help.
