A few hrs prior also on ridge road furthur down into gary a plane crashed too.

We had a similar accident around here about 3 years ago...  sadly no survivors.

Yeah, any crash with a Gasoline Tanker leads to bad news.

 

Back in '89 or '90 a Tanker Truck Flipped over and blew up less than 2 miles from my house. Black smoke went over my house, I can still remember the sight of black smoke all over the sky. The Driver died.

you wouldnt believe what the road looks like there.  I drove past again today and the center concrete median looks like it was melted

I found an  article on this crash and I wanted to show it to you guys, but the stupid site is messed up.    And it's frustrating to me cause I really want to see the article for my-self.

About a year and a half ago a tanker flipped on the entrance ramp, east bound I-10, right after the tunnel in Mobile.  It fell off the ramp to the road under it and melted the overpass it just fell from.  The driver died, and most of the entrance ramp had to be replaced. Apparantly concrete also gets very brittle with the heat.
