There is no such thing as absolute security. I believe the current broadbrush security checks actually lead to decreased security as the expense and complexity of applying such a wide system take away resources that could be more effectively applied to intelligent, directed security.

It's just like international espionage. Everyone used to concerned about electronic eavesdropping but they realized that the weak point was people that could be corrupted or blackmailed into supplying info. In much the same way, all the advanced technologies and blanket procedures will be applied to the obvious things while some little weakness is left unprotected and unmonitored.

Im a Pilot myself, and I think its funny as hell that its just now becoming noticeable to all spoon fed, not gonna think for myself Americans that "huhuhuhuhuh... Duhhhhh..... Maybe we should start considering that Cargo Carriers could be potential targets too...."

Before criticising the guy, maybe consider he just upped things a bit and maybe even saved some lives somewhere down the road since people are so god-damned stupid as not to think about it as a danger in the first place...
