Sorry to be a bubble-buster, but don't confuse bolt head size with bolt THREAD size.

And NEVER try to force something in where it won't go comfortably.  Get some ramps, too.

I don’t need no stinking ramps! ? There are advantages to being of a smaller stature...I have a 92 Ford Ranger also with the dual spark 4cyl and I’m the only one who can fit my skinny arms in there to get the back plugs out! Oh, and I taught my husband how to work on cars! Caught him trying to put a Left caliper on the Right side of his 78 Trans Am. He’ll never live that down! ?

But he could really stop when he was backing up!

Welcome to the forum, if I might be so bold.

15mm is the drain plug head & socket size. 12 X 1.5 mm is the drain plug thread size. This has changed in the past, so it is best to confirm with your vehicle’s model and year of manufacture👍

Yeah I know. Just googled size and most posts were stating 12mm? I have an equinox which was 15mm too-and of course the book doesn’t give you specs ,just capacities. I’ve been working on cars since I was about 15-so 45 years of experience. This old broad is still wrenchin’ ! Thanks for the post !

I realize this is an old thread, but I just wanted she some light on what might've happened here.

You're confusing the thread size with the bolt head size I think. M12 is the drain plug thread size with a 1.75 pitch, and the head of the bolt is 15mm.
