Grease Fittings

Could someone tell me how many grease fittings I should fill when I service.

I believe I find 11 and always feel I'm missing some.

 

Also I was curious, I have been using a extra capacity oil filter from NAPA and was wondering if anyone else runs with this type filter. Fill up is approx. 5 3/4 qts.

Is this a good practice? Years ago it was common, their almost hard to find. Mabey the 4x4's can't fit them? Anyway I figure it's better to be working with more oil in the system but now wonder if that could affect oil pressure? Any thoughts?

Makes me want to go with an 04, too bad by the time I get that type of $$$ together I'll probably always be a body style or two behind

Welcome to the site first off...

 

As far as the grease fittings on the front of truck there are 10 that I service. The upper and lower ball joints on each side. The Tie Rod ends on each side. The stearing has four points to lube as well. Two are like Pitman arms on each side of the steering linkage that have to be hit from the top and two on the connections opposite the tie rod ends. I lube all of these every 6000 miles. Just a little shot in each to keep em working smooth. Hope this helps ya out. It sounds like you are hitting everything though.

I think mine has 12. There is one on the front driveshaft, but since yours is a 2wd, you don't have one.

Just a heads up, there's no grease fitting on the front drive shaft on the GMT800 trucks.
