Fog Lights

How does it work? Yesterday I jumperd the foglight output wire to the parking light output on the back of the switch. Now the fogs come on with the headlights. Does this unit work in a similar way?

I just gotta get this off my chest - people that run their fog lights when it isn't foggy really piss me off. My eyes are really sensitive to light and that just really bugs me.

Okay, I said it, and I'm not sorry, but I am going to bed now. Man, these lights are killing me!!

You can't see any better with them on, you just blind the oncoming traffic. I read in the paper where are local PD is giving tickets to people running them in the middle of town in nice weather.

Acually, They are not really fog lights on the 03 trucks. They are driving lights, And they do help a hell of a lot. They light up the sides of the road and right infront of you perfect. I never notice people having fog lights on unless they are after market high wattage and pointed to high. If a headlight does not bother you then a fog light should never.

There is no federal limit on the light output of driving/fog lights, they are probably getting people on how their light are adjusted (too high)

I agree, I have HID low beams, HID high beams and HID driving lights, if adjusted properly they will not blind or bother on coming traffic.

The 2003 are far superior to those on the pre-2003 models. I have the ones on in my 2001 Tahoe for look, but the ones in the 2003 Silverado really do provide light for the road.

I like the R&D kit, except for the fact that if the lights cycle off and on automatically at dusk, the kit remembers the last state, and does the oppsite to the fogs. So if the lights and fogs turn on, then shut off automatically, the next time the lights come on (as long as you haven't cycled the ignition), the fogs will come on but then the kit will shut them off. Kind of a pain, but it only happens once and a while.

I don't understand why you say they are not fog lights.

Anyway my take on fog lights.

They are great in fog and heavy snow. They don't reflect back and really work well at lighting the road a short distance in front of the truck. This is what you need in a low visability situation were you have to travel slow. That being said they should not be used for regular driving. Yes they lightup the sides of the road but at normal speeds this does you no good. If you are looking that close to the truck you will hit something before you can react. This extra light, from fog lights, causes your retina to close more than with them off. This limits the amount of light you can see from farthur distances. So you can't see as well at the distances you need to be looking at higher speeds.
