Chevy Colorado

What does everyone think about the Colorado? I'm totally diggin' it. Think I'll look into gettin' a crew cab Z71. Looks like you can pick one up about $28k after TTL. Thats a little cheaper than Silverado. There quote on gas mileage (16 and 20) isn't to great, and the hp is only 225, but I'm sure they'll be mods to get it to @ 300. Any opinions?

I think $28,000 is a lot for a little truck..... I also think they should NEVER use the Z71 name on a little truck. Its like putting Z28 on a cavalier. But they do look nice.

size: mid size (like a dodge dakota and the future ford ranger)

engine: 5 cyl in line from the trailblazer / envoy family

I would wait another year before I would consider for GM to work out the first year kinks.

Perhaps they will offer all 6 cyl. of the envoy / trailblazer next year or as a option the 4.8 / 5.3 V8 for some real git up and go

Then you would have more than 4,000 lb towing capacity it now has.

As far as looks, I like it!

I think you can also get the inline 5 turbocharged, can't remember the #'s, but it was over 250hp. Found this post over on Pickuptruck.com's website.

Nevermind, found out it isn't happening? Chris

I don't understand why anyone would buy a 225hp truck to modify it to make 300hp when GM makes trucks with 300+ hp. If you want 300hp, get a 6.0L, if you want more, get the 8.1L. Just my opinion...

Well I think the difference in price between a Colorado and a 6.0L Silverado 2500 are a bit much. I will be a Pennsylvania resident here in a few years when I transfer to University of Penn State. I'll want something nice and AWD. My current truck is getting a bit old. I love it to death, but 160k is a 160k. Not sure if I want a full size truck especially since the looks of the new Silverado are terrible IMO. The front clip is growin' on me a little bit, but I'm still not sure I like it just yet. I won't be towing anymore than a jet ski, and my hauling is minimum. Hopefully by the time I actually do need to purchase maybe GM will at least offer the 4.8.

I love the look of it, and hope they make the new silverados look more like it. I think it looks a bit tougher. The only downfall seems to be HP, and if you need/want more HP, then a bigger truck will do.

Looks like an S-10 with a modified Silverado nose. The stock 2.8 liter is

a bored and stroked Duke, the inline 5 3.5L is new for this model; the Trailblazer/

Envoy share the 4.2L six. Just for grins, I went to Edmunds.com and built

the Z-71 with the 3.5 and an auto. 24,900 for the Chevy, 25,400 for the GMC.

This of course is Edmunds TMV.

Have a great one!

Rodger them being expensive... Seems everything is too expensive now adays... I'm going to run the HD until they quit making gasoline...

I thought both engines were derivatives of the Trail Blazer straight six. The four banger a bored and stroked Duke? ...say it isn't so.

I really doubt they will put the 5.3 in it, If they wanted more power in them they would not have made the 5cylinder for it. They would have atleast put the straight six in.
