Oil pump issues

Recommended Posts

I own a 2015 Silverado LT.

at 76000 miles I lost oil pressure and saw the “ shut engine down, loss of oil pressure” on my dash. Had it towed in and they told me the oil pump had to be replaced. They covered it under warranty.

Two weeks ago, mileage now at 80,000, I started my truck after work. Engine ran extremely rough for 5 seconds when a message of, “engine power reduced” came on followed by (once again), “ loss of engine oil pressure”.

Once again I had it towed into the dealer who stated that unfortunately my warranty was done just two days previous to the second issue.

He said he would check to see what the problem was and see if Chevy would cover it. That was over two weeks ago......no return call yet.

Wouldn’t there be some type of warranty on the oil pump installation if Chevy bails on the warranty?

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Genuine GM parts are warranted for 12months/12,000miles if you fall under this category. If not GM should step up to the plate for two days out of warranty for the same problem that was fixed four thousand miles ago.

If it’s a problem they have already addressed, it should be covered with or without a warranty. Take your truck to a different dealership.

Thank you guys for the reply. Will post an update. Hopefully good news.

Update:

it took two months and a phone call to Chevy but they WILL cover the blown engine.

So at 76,000 oil pump failed

80,000 oil pump failed again and took the engine with it.

Out of warranty by less than two days.

Chevy agreed to cover engine.

THANK YOU CHEVY FOR STEPPING UP.
