Bluetooth Not Working - OnStar works fine

2011 Silverado 1500 LT

When I bought the truck the Bluetooth worked great! Both phone calls and music streamed perfectly. I then switched phones (same model) and attempted to pair the new phone, and could not get the Bluetooth to activate on the truck. At first I thought it was just the mic, but I called OnStar from inside the truck and it worked fine.

When I press the voice activation button (whether on the steering wheel or on the OnStar module), it says "Ready" and then beeps, and won't recognize if any voice commands are given.

I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

Check your phone's Bluetooth settings. Each Bluetooth device can be set different as to whether or allows data, music, Mic etc. Also check your voice activation on the phone, make sure it is working with something like a Bluetooth earpiece.

Regardless of the phone, the truck doesn't recognize that I am speaking to it at all. If I press either of the voice activations on the truck button, regardless of what I say, or how loud I say it, it doesn't recognize any thing has been said.

There have been numerous posts on here where people say that their trucks pair with their first phone just fine, but then a couple of years later they have a helluva time getting it to delete that old phone from the system and add a new one.  Maybe that's something a dealer has to reset?
