Replace a Tire

Recommended Posts

I have to get one new tire due to a large gash in the sidewall. The tires only have 15,000 miles on them. Should I get all new ones or will it be okay to have 3 tires with 15,000 more miles than the one I am replacing.

I would be replacing the stock tires that came on the truck. What tires would be good for a 2wd Silverado if I were to replace all of them?

Most of the time the stock tires are 30K lifers, so it's possible they are about half worn. You can take the truck to a tire shop to have them measure the tread depth or do it yourself. If the tires are close to half worn I would replace them with good 50-60K tires, I always had good luck with goodyear, quiet and good rain/snow traction. If they are still good, 1/4 worn, just replace the tire it's cheaper.

It would be best to at least replace the tires in pairs. When you have different tread depths side to side (left front to right front) this can cause a pull to the side with the most worn out tire.

I would buy one more for sure. Put the new ones up front and the existing in the rear.:jester::cool::lol::lol:

Hey, assuming your *spare* is still new, why not pull that one off and replace it with one of the worn ones, buy your one new one and there ya go!, two new tires!
