Side Mirror Lights?

Hey gang,

 

Proud owner of 2019 GMC Seirra 1500 SLT. Still figuring out all the bells and whistles. Took 2 weeks and many talks with dealer and GM to figure out the pairing problem with a Samsung phone with Android Auto to the truck for texting and data..if you have the same problem it is the cable that is the issue.  Unlike apple phones, androids seem to have two types of connection cables, one just for charging, another bidirectional for data. Get that one problem solved.

 

Anyway I always thought give before you ask for something....

 

My simple question is do the side mirrors have a downcast light that operates when you unlock the door at night? It seems there is a led under the mirrors but have found no way to engage them. I know the project lights on those mirrors work only in park mode. but what about the down light for easier access at night?

 

Also, any good aftermarket solutions for the brilliance of not having a lockable gas door?

The mirror LED lights come on at night when exiting the vehicle, also when unlocking the vehicle using the remote - at least in my SLT it does....

Sounds like it’s doing what it’s supposed to. It’s called a puddle lamp - basically to illuminate your step at night into the vehicle. Should come on only at night when opening the door and when unlocking at night.
