I had one in my previous vehicle. Overall I wasn't that impressed with it, but other people I know with the unit like it.

 

I had a hard time getting it tuned, so the range issues I had were likely related to that. My other complaints were horrible sound quality. With such a small speaker (even relative to other units), I had to jack the sound up to hear everything, but by then the little tweeter was so maxed the high pitches made me cringe.

 

I also found the unit didn't hold up well. After a few offroading trips when you're constantly picking it up, putting it down and then watching it roll around on the floor the volume and squelch nobs started to get stiff. Not sure if I got crud in them or what.
