How many of you guys are sporting Silverado's w/ Quadrasteer? Have you encountered any problems yet? How does it effect your towing capactiy and payload? Just curious becasue I'm thinking about it and don't know whether to go with the Q steer or Z71

Ask the guys with the Sierra Denali's, we've had it in our trucks since the 2002 model. It came standard, it wasn't an option. The Silverado got it in 2003.

I've had absolutly no problems with mine, nor have I even heard of anyone that has had a problem. I don't tow, but I love it! Fabulious for parking and lane changing on the highway! I can do a u-turn on a 2 lane road without a cut! It's also fun to see people stare at the back wheels when they turn!

My rig is in the shop today for quadrasteer service. I've had the truck now for 6 months and 6,500 miles and this is the first problem I've encountered (which is better than my previous vehicles...Acura, Nissan, Ford).

I'm not worried about it, could just be a fluke. I completely recommend the quadrasteer option. I don't think it affects the towing capacity or payload, but my rig is a 1/2 ton...

While I don't have it on a pick-up I do have it on a 03 Suburban with about 9000 miles now. It is amazing for towing and allows you to move the trailer in positions with virtually no effort and into much tighter quarters. You can really fine tune where you want the trailer to go. No more pulling forward to straighten out the trailer from a tight turn in reverse, just keep going. You really have to experience it to fully appreciate the functionality.

I was actually driving a rental car the other day and found the turning radius really lacking after spending so much time driving my truck with Quadrasteer despite the much shorter length of the car. For the 03s there was a $2000 rebate and I think they lowered the cost for the 04s. No issues for me and I have towed a fair amount.

The "Service 4-wheel steer" notification came on while I was driving and I noticed that the truck had automatically switched into two-wheel steer mode. I was near my GMC dealership, so I stopped by and a Tech plugged a computer into the truck. Apparently the sensor that tells the rear steering that its "straight" wasn't working, so it went into "safe" mode.

I just got a call from the Service Dept and they can't duplicate the problem...classic. They've driven it all over the place and the steering is working just fine. They've tested all of the sensors and everything is "in the green". So maybe it wasn't anything afterall....

What do you tow? We are considering purchasing a 3/4 ton Yukon XL to tow our 31 foot travel trailer which is about 7000 lbs loaded. I noticed that you cannot combine Quadrasteer with the 8.1L engine, and wondered if we could get by with the 6.0L. I wasn't sure if giving up engine power for Quadrasteer would be worth the trade.

i know this might seem as a bit of a stupid question, but could you put a lift on a quadrasteer without it being affected too much?

Yup, many are lifting them now!

sweeeeeet  that's one thing that was affecting my decision on whether I was going to get the quadrasteer... my truck HAS to have a lift on it haha...and I would glady sacrifice the quadrasteer if I couldn't lift it... i think i'll go ahead and grab that quadrasteer and put a nice lift on it... mmmm ... big ass truck with superb turning power...nothing beats that :)

Does quadrasteer add to the height of the truck?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think it adds to the height of the truck. It just adds some width for the fender flares

I have 14,000 miles on mine and no issues so far. As another poster said, it is great on the highway and awesome for u turns and parking, and of course you get a lot of stares. I don't know about "a lot" of QS trucks being lifted though.

I have a 21 foot ski boat, Not sure on the weight but the tags on it are for over 3500lbs so maybe with the trailer 4000. I also occasionally flat tow my jeep tj. Tows both just fine, and I have the 3.73 ratio. for the weight you are looking at I think the 4:10 ratio would be better. It is rated for 9300lbs with the 6.0 and 4x4. Only you can make the call on the engine but the Quadrasteer is fantastic for towing especially if you are ever in any tight quarters or do a lot of backing up.
