News

The hot rumor around the garage is that Scott Riggs will definitely replace Johnny Benson Jr. in the MBV #10 for the 2004 season.

Benson still has a year remaining on his contract, but the team is so anxious to ride the youth train they will reportedly continue to pay the driver if he does not find a ride.

The message board at http://johnnybenson.com/index.shtml has been smokin' with this rumor and its related speculation for a week now. Possibilites that have been mentioned: 1, 30, 9/19 (depending on Bill Elliot's decision and where Mayfield goes), 43 (please Nooooo!), 2nd Cal Wells team, 2nd car in Todd Bodine's team. James Ince has made some cryptic comments about working on a Chevy real soon. Not sure what that means. James and Johnny have presented themselves as a package deal in the past. We'll see I guess.

This talk about Scott Riggs has been out there for better than a week and no one from MBV or Valvoline has come out and confirmed or denied. Leads me to think that JB won't be back in the 10 next season.

Well, if they go to :nono: (which I'd much rather see than have them go to Ford or Dodge) they'll the third of my favorite teams to go from Pontiac to Chevy (both Gibbs teams did).

Pontiac better get their program together quick, or they aren't going to have any drivers
