Hi.

I have a 2000 small version of a p30 stepvan with a v6 262 engine lpg fuel only. Using Impco model L gas vaporizer.

My inquiry is about the 6 poppet nozzles that go from the fuel meter to the lower intake manifold bores.

Since the vehicle does not use gasoline whatsoever can I omit the 6 poppet nozzles and have the manifold bores empty? The fuel meter stays of course.

The lpg is mixed with air on top of the throttle body so there is no injecting going on through the fuel meter.

What do the experts think?

Thank you for the input.

I would suggest that if the engine is running fine, no issues, leave it alone.  I am a firm believer in only repairing something that is broken.  If you leave the hood closed, you won't see those "6 poppet nozzles".  In Canada, licensed mechanics are required to have the propane endorsement on their license before they can legally work on a LPG fueled engine.

Hi, are you experienced if this particular engine with lpg or just giving a general advice?

I get it if you are just being well meaned, thank you, though I would like an expert answer.

Logic behind the fuel meter is to dispense fuel, if no fuel is being dispensed (there is never any gasoline) then there is no need of having these plastic tubes inside the lower manifold bores, where one of these plastic tube injectors looks in bad shape half eroded.

Whats the point of having it there.

In lpg fuel system you get liquid lpg that goes to the evaporator, where it becomes gaseous, then it goes to the mixer which sits o top of the throttle body, making it pretty much a carburetor system. Injectors do nothing.

I have been in the lpg industry for a long time, and I will say this if you are running lpg do not remove the "nozzles", propane is very very finicky if the air fuel ratio is off by even a little it will backfire and cause major headaches. Case in point one of our trucks had a small gasket tear out of the mixerit allowed just a little more air than the maf had read. it would backfire, and stall over and over.
