help! No brake lights or hazard lights

1996 Blazer 4-door has no brake lights or 4-way flashers (turn signals work though). I have checked the fuses and replaced the flasher relay.

 

Anyone had a similar problem or any ideas to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry no real thoughts, other than to begin using a volt meter and being checking the wires to see if you are getting power. Hopefully there will be some other suggestions.

its a recall on the hazard light switch. same thing happened to me this summer, takes 30 minutes to fix.

Here is what I have found so far. I have voltage coming from the fuse panel to the brake actuator switch via an orange wire. I have voltage leaving the brake actuator switch via the white wire while the brake is being applied. Voltage is being applied to the turn signal switch on the steering column via the same white wire. I do not know what wire leaves the turn signal switch that carries the voltage to the lights. My problem may lie with the turn signal switch but want to confirm.

You are on the right track. Our shop replaces ALOT of Turn signal switches on the S10s. The brake lights, haz lights and the turn signals all run through the Multi-function switch and is the cause of 80% of light issues. Be prepared as those switches are not cheap. $200-$250

BTW, Dark Green and Yellow wires carry the current to the rear brake lights off of the turn signal/multifunction switch.

Turn signal switch turned out to be the culprit.

 

The General is awfully proud of their switch. I was quoted $335.00 from dealer parts department. Picked up one at a local salvage yard for $65.00 and installed it today.
