I’m looking for advise to improve output for towing and better mpg for the least amount of investment on my 1999 Silverado 2500 4x4, extended cab truck.  I have the unpopular exhaust bolts issue which I’ll address at the same time I add headers, change heads (if recommend), possibly add a cam, lifters, etc if needed.  (I’m looking for the best bang for my buck without breaking the bank).  My truck has @ 170,000 miles, used as an everyday

driver, pull a 5th wheel camper @ 10,000 lbs.

Should have a 4L80e transmission. Add a 40K cooler and some fresh fluid and you should be good. Ad a higher than stock stall torque converter but don't get wild as you want to use it as a truck.

Engine is also a good engine. Ad a mild cam with the right torque converter and you will be happy. Make sure to get a truck Camshaft, lift will give you a big cam sound but is not were power is made in towing.

Getwith Texas Speed, Summitracing or one of the many other suppliers to see what works best for you.

Also get a nice tune to top it all off.
