Is this a good idea to do myself or should a dealer do it?

Its not hard to do at all. I did it on my old Impala that had the LFX engine in it which also had DGI and VVT. I followed the instructions by spraying the entire bottle through the throttle body while I had someone holding the gas pedal down a little bit, letting the car sit for 1 hour off, and then drove it at highway speeds for about 10 minutes. I did that at 30,000 miles and I will probably do it to my truck at 30,000 miles as well.

From what i hear you might want to take the CATs out of the equation. someone on the forum had issues when using this and then their CATs had to be replaced. i would disconnect at the headers just to be safe.
