Finding Towing Figures

So I recently went to the GM dealership to look at a new truck for towing my travel trailer and the salesman I talked to didn't seem to know too much about towing.  I have been considering both engines and seeing what the towing figures would look like.  My question is how do you figure out the proper towing figures on the truck?  I looked on the sticker in the door sill and subtracted the GCWR from the GVWR to get the max towing.  The dealership was saying that the max towing package adds onto that number, but that didn't seem right to me.  Are all the towing options included in the sticker or does a max towing package add onto that number?

Each truck will have a different payload number. You can never increase this number, only decrease it. Payload gets eaten up quick.

There are tons of YouTube videos regarding this subject.  Good rule of thumb is choose the trailer first and than choose the truck.

See you on the road.

The numbers on the sticker inside the driver's door are accurate for that specific truck. If it has the max trailering package, that will already be included in those numbers. Look for a truck with a GVWR of 7300 lbs to confirm it has max towing.
