new cluster no trip meter

we had to replace the instrument cluster in our 2003 Chevy sliverado  1500 we got the new one  the trip meter wouldnt work , so we sent it back . Got the 2nd one in and again the trip meter doesnt work , is there something (a trick ) i need to do or should i send off again for a 3rd cluster ?

Does the odometer work correctly?

Have they been programmed for the specific options in your vehicle or is it just from another vehicle?

 

The IP needs to be programmed at least for the 4wd light and the driver information center stuff, but there are probably other things as well.

 

Just a note, the mileage also needs to be programmed into the IP, as that's where it is stored (if you want it to be correct).
