How can I take out the ignition to replace it. With no key to switch it into cranking position

Have a new lock cylinder and key ready to go, because you'll need to destroy the original one to remove it. They do not make it easy ...

Go to your GM dealer with your registration and proof of ownership and VIN # and see if they will cut a key from the VIN #

  I am guessing that is good relatively speaking given that its probably a popular vacation spot and that usually means a captive market. Right now we are sitting at 1.73 a liter for regular and that would have ethanol in it as we don't have such a thing as no ethanol regular fuel it seems, and diesel at 1.80 a liter, priced in Canadian Pesos ......
