Electrical Issue

Having a intermittent electrical issue on my 2016 Silverado 40K miles , (Reg Cab WT 4.3). Severity of the issue varies from annoyance to dangerous.

Here's the difference levels, I believe they're all related, the issue goes away in a split second, but can come back the next time the brake is pressed. In level of severity they are

  1. Can see the small info panel display flickering
  2. When stepping on the brake, radio display goes blank, but radio stays on.
  3. When stepping on the brake, the dash lights and the radio go completely out
  4. When stepping on the brake, same as above but the traction control light comes on
  5. Wen stepping on the brake, the same as above but the air bag light also comes on.
  6. When stepping on the brake, the same as above, but the power steering goes out

No pattern to when these will show up and likewise the severity. Truck will be fine for a couple days, then act up all day long the following day, then go away again.

All these only happen for a split second, but when your're going around a turn and loose PS, its a bit concerning.

I believe there is some sort of electrical spike, triggered by the brake light that is causing these faults. Haven't been able to find root cause.

Dealer said there is no recall on this, but it seems similar to issues on earlier models.

Any thoughts?

This sounds like a grounding issue.  Check the connections on your battery to make sure they are tight and the battery ground on the passenger side on the frame.  I checked mine while doing oil/fluid changing and found that it just screwed into the frame with the wax still applied under it.  I wasn't have any issues but my guess is that it wasn't a very good ground like that, so I took the bolt out, cleaned up the bolt, ring, and frame, then put some dielectric grease over it all.  Seems to be a common thing on these trucks.

Agree with the grounding problem. Battery cables are easiest to access and check and are very common. Other then that there are a lot of other grounds off of the harnesses that could cause something like this. A wiring diagram can show you where they are.
