Does any one have any experience with MBRP exhaust systems? I am looking at replacing the stock system and was comparing this brand to Borla and Corsa. Any information both positive and negative would be appreciated. Thanks!

I do. I've had mine for almost 2 years now. Sounds great, no issues and a good price. Easy to install. What concerns do you have?

It may just be advertising but it is using a 400 series stainless steel which from what i understand is a lower quality. I am concerned it may rust out sooner than the 300 series stainless steel other manufacturers use. Also, how does it sound when the engine goes down to 4 cylinder mode, any drone?

Only when the truck swicthes into 4 cylinder mode and going slow around 30-40 the exhaust was designed for both v8 and for when it is in 4 cylinder mode its only noticeable at lower speeds in 4 cylinder mode

I have had 4 different MBRP systems and after my Silverado enough was enough.  It rusts bad if you drive where they salt the roads... in less than a year I had corrosion and pitting I would expect from a 5 year old exhaust system and I live where we actually don't salt all that heavily or often because it's usually too cold for it to be effective.  The black powder coating also fell off almost immediately on 3 different tips I had and one full system.  Hell water running down the inner panels of the box and running across the tip took off the "powdercoat".  Rustoleum paint honestly held up better than their powder coating did and I could wire wheel the powdercoat off like I was cheap paint.  I will never buy anything from MBRP ever again.  If I want cheap junk I will buy aluminumized pipe from an exhaust shop.

That is what I am concerned about. With the cost of the system being half of Borla and Corsa I have a feeling it will be one of those "you get what you pay for" moments.

Mines aluminized, but I live in Florida [emoji16] The drone wasn't bad at all when I had AFM, but I turned that off. I mean if you want to spend 800-1100 on an exhaust then I personally love the way Corsa Sport sounds. Why bother with an exhaust if you don't want the hear the V8 roar? Lol..

Yup.  I took the MBRP off my last Silverado and replaced if with a Borla ATAK... what I wanted and should have bought in the first place.  I might have pictures of my old MBRP to show you how terrible it was in around 9 months time.

Sounds like I am in the same situation. I want the Borla ATAK but at $1,300.00 it's a little pricy for now. I would be interested in seeing what your old MBRP looked like when you removed it.

So that was taken in May of 2016.  I installed that exhaust in October of 2015 lol.  No my truck didn't look like the Titanic underneath and still looked great.  The factory exhaust would have held up better than this did and the head pipe of course did.  I sent these photos and proof of purchase to MBRP to see what their response was.   MBRP said that this level of pitting and corrosion was totally normal for their T409 systems in that time frame.  Funny... I have had a Magnaflow T409 stainless exhaust on my 05 1500HD for 4 or 5 years now and it still looks nicer than this MBRP did after 8 months on my truck.  You can see where i scrubbed the hell out of it with metal polish and a scothbrite and all the pitting it had.  No thanks.  My 2017 has stock piping (it's an HD so its 3.5") and a muffler swap..  the oem exhaust still looks more or less new after 3 years now lol.  Great product MBRP lol.  You get what you pay for.

This is why I bought the Borla.

You get what you pay for is so true.

I purchased the black powder coated model. Its in my garage still in the box....so i should not open the box and install it then? I bought it online but its been sitting in my garage for 45 days no time to install it. and company only gave me a 30 day window to return it. So anyone wanna buy a new still in the box system? lol.  ill use it as a downpayment for the Borla.

    • Still looks like a rivet to me in the pics, I don't see a nut and none of the pics show the head of the screw. But if you says so.....
    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
