cold tranny issue?

Ok I have a 02-2500 hd 6.0 cc sb and when it is cold and driving in say 3rd gear and you shift into overdrive it sorta downshifts (does this all the time hot and cold)....maybe not downshift but the rpms go up.....then inorder to lock the the torque converter you need to give it 1/2 throttle....when the converter locks it does so very slowly....if I back off the gas the converter unlocks and goes back to 3rd gear....once the truck is really warm it goes away......I dont remember it doing it last year but who knows.....is this norma or.......ideas?

I know on the Allison-equipped trucks, the TC will remained unlocked (and some gears are even unavailable in extreme cold temps), until the operating temp breaks 100°. My guess is that something similar may be happening with yours, possibly just the TC remaining unlocked until it warms up some.

My Rado is the same in cold weather...driving up the street from the station she'll stay at 30 and won't shift until hot or unless you push it harder.
