2014 Sierra Issues

I own a 2014 Sierra that was recalled because the steering  wheel would jerk to the side and cut off. It was repaired last week. It loss power three times yesterday while driving. The engine kept running but the dash went blank for about 2 to 3 seconds. When I stopped and cut the truck off it was totally dead. No nothing, dash and starting. Three seconds later I tried it and it started up. Kind of cautious of going on a trip with it. I replaced the battery and the dealer charges 95 dollars an hour to check it out. Nothing shows up on the dianostic.

I’m thinking an 80% chance it’s a bad ground.

Could be the one in the dash right at the driver side A pillar. That is a know issue and what typically causes the steering wheel jerk. There is a ground where a manufacturing tolerance sometimes allows plastic trim to get stuck behind the ground.

that’s for sure the first thing I would do since it’s the most likely culprit. Google on how to do it. It’s been posted here numerous times. It’s an actual GM recommended repair for jerking steering wheel. I’d ask the dealer if they repaired that particular ground. Maybe they somehow did a bad job.

There’s is a recall on the software update to the power steering, as far as I know the ground issue is not an actual recall. Maybe they just did the software recall because they are stupid.

Had the same thing happen on my 14, but to my knowledge no one did the power steering recall, it just happened randomly.  Dealership found a bad ground on the power steering module (I think) and that was probably 4 months ago and I've had no issues since.  Before the truck totally laid down on me a few times, the power steering would go out for a few seconds a handful of times, so it kinda added up in my case.
