Power tailgate will not close

My tailgate opens and closes fine with the button on the tailgate.  It opens from the switch on the dash and the remote, but will not auto close. The owners manual says take it to the dealer to get it corrected.

Does anyone know the procedure to reset that function?  Seems like it should be an easy fix.
