Hand held tuner for 6.0 swap

I got a 99 silverado 4.8. I have a 01 6.0 lq4 thats stock minus the cai and exhaust im using from the 4.8..stock tranny(till i can get it built).

Do i have to get a custom tune in order to get the full performance out of the stock 6.0 or is there a hand held tuner i can get that'll make it run decent?

Needs to be custom tune. A handheld dealio that just spits out pre-made calibrations will be set for a specific year/engine.

 

You will need to run the 6.0 injectors just so you know. The 99's 4.8 injectors will not be large enough for that engine.

 

Using a tuner like HP Tuners or taking it somewhere will be able to copy over all the 6.0 data and paste it over the top of the 4.8 calibration file.
