Duramax Squeek....

I have a 2002 Chevy Duramax. When I first bought it when I would shut it off the belt would squeek a little on shut off. But as I have been driving it it is getting worse. The belt squeeks enough that everyone looks at my truck when I shut it off. Anyone have anything like this happen. It squeeks when I go down the road with the Air Conditioner on also, just light squeeks it is a little annoying.

Give a quick shot of belt dressing. If it keeps up after that, have it looked at. Maybe something is turning hard, or the tensioner isn't doing it's job.

I thought about the belt dressing I just didnt think that it should even need that at only 25K. I wondered about the tensioner also but everything seems snug and the belt runs smoothly.

Has anyone else had this problem???

It's a common thing with the Duramax. When the fuel is shut off to the motor, the diesel comes to a stop very quickly and the belt will slip a tad. Some have replaced the OEM belt with an aftermarket one. Nothing is being damaged, just an annoyance more than anything.
