Tailgate Cables

Hey guys just wondering if anybody has had problems with the cables snapping on the tailgates on there silverado's. My Dad had the left side snap last week and the right side it stretched out probably have to replace that to.I think i heard some place that GM was having problems with this. I dont think it helped much when he had 20 sheets of sheetrock hanging off the end of the tailgate but it still should jhave been alright. When the cable snapped it it bent one of the brackets things were the tailgate hooks into dont know what the part is called. I think it was $25 total for everything nothing to expensive. THats all guys just wondered if anybody else had this problem.

Roofer broke a cable not to long ago.  ???   I can't remember which part of the forum he posted in though.  If I find it, I'll post the link for you.

I haven't had any problems...yet. I do remember someone in here mention the weight capacity for those cables and it was suprisingly low. I'd like to know if there is an aftermarket replacement.

Some have had problems, others (like me) haven't.  And I've had several hundreds of pounds on the tailgate multiple times.
