Hi All -

I have a 2006/07 Silverado (GMT-800), 150K miles.  It has pooped out of gear twice in the past month or so.  Once was on a really rough dirt road, so I didn't think much of it.  I was going pretty slow and it was in '3'  The last time was on a smooth road, and happened as I was slowing down.  It was in 'D'.  Both times it made a grinding noise. until whatever was spinning stopped.  I have a scan gauge - there aren't any codes.  It also happened one other time about 3 years ago.

Transmission fluid and filter were changed at 50K and 125K.  Fluid looks and smells fine.  It's never overheated either.  I've had it since it was new.

Any ideas - just a linkage problem?  It shifts fine.  No other problems.

Have you climbed underneath and checked the linkage? Where is the cable connects to the tranny lever is plastic and known to give out. If there is play in the Linkage, the lever might move.

Turns out I had a bad Low Roller Clutch.  The accordion springs broke.  All. of. them.
