Erick Jasso Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 (edited) Is it possible to swap a 90 Silverado 5.7 tbi With a 99 5.7 Vortec? i have a donor vehicle with all computers and harnesses that being said would my cluster and ac switch’s all be functional? Edited October 10, 2020 by Erick Jasso
CamGTP Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 You'd have to put everything from the donor truck into your truck. I mean everything because we are not only going from TBI injection to Multi port fuel injection but also OBD1 to OBD2 which is a huge jump forward in technology. So engine/transmission, wiring harness, fuse blocks, interior dash and wiring harness. You are basically just using your truck has a cab swap when you get down to the details here. It's totally possible but will be a ton of work to make it function correctly. 1
Erick Jasso Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 (edited) Ok it’s more work than I was hoping for but totally possible haha mounting the dash would that bolt Right up Or would their be Fabrication involved? I know the dash and door panels would all have to be swapped over would it be easier to swap doors or just door panels? Edited October 10, 2020 by Erick Jasso

That’s the business they’re in.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SILVER SLED Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 (edited) Why not just swap the vortec heads and get a good flowing tbi style manifold or aftermarket intake and fuel injection. If I remember correctly, the ecm for a throttle body truck and a tuned port f-body is the same. And I think the “vortec” heads were used on a 95 TBI truck. Edited October 10, 2020 by SILVER SLED
