I purchased a new 2020 2500HD truck as well as the new camera for the back of the trailer.  The installation of the camera went well and it synchronized with the the rest of the camera system easily.

After four uses I damaged the camera cable/plug and would like to crimp on a new plug if possible..  one of the Chevy Parts guys says that I will have to replace the entire $400+ camera due to the fact that there isn’t any other repairs possible.

Im writing to see if anyone else has broke one of the conductors and found a solution for a repair?  Also to warn others to be gentle with the cord and plug as they are somewhat fragile.

Any ideas?

I've had the trailer camera for little over a year. It was one of the first versions and has had several issues. GM has upgraded the components and changed part numbers on the camera several times since I purchased mine. I finally got it to where it would work most trips before I had to tweak the connection end some. Last trip, the end pulled loose from the cable. I finally just got a Furrion Vision camera. It's wireless and I can use it no matter what brand of truck I have. Some people with 5th wheels or goosenecks have moved the camera port to the bed so that there is no cable to snag, but mine never got reliable enough for me to move it.
