Hi Beam Indicator

Does anybody besides me thnk the Hi Beam Indicator light is too bright? I thought I saw this topic in previous posts, with a fix, but can't find it. Any ideas??

I believe there is a TSB about that problem. I'd call your service manager and have him look into it for you.

I noticed that too on my 03 Sierra. It nearly lights up the whole cab

Yes, there is a TSB on this issue and the dealer can dim it with a Tech 2 scan tool. I had mine dimmed shortly after buying the truck. It was rediculously bright.

They apparently didn't test drive the truck at night after making that design.

Thanks firetiger I'll ask my dealer if he can do that. Is there a way to find out the TSB number so if they don't believe me I can show them the number

I have the same problem, but when i went to the dealer, they said it was already installed. I hate to drive with them on because it really destracts you from the road. I was wondering whether you can change it to a different bulb or maybe put another piece of film or something to dim it.

2003 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT

2003 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2003 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL

Condition

Some customers may comment that the IP cluster high beam indicator lamp is too bright.

Correction

To reduce the high beam indicator intensity level, reprogram the IPC with the service calibration that was available from Techline on the TIS2000 version 4.5 or later for 2003. This calibration is an electronic calibration and is not available from GMSPO.

They are freee if you are still under warranty. Some dealers may fix it for free if you are out of warranty, but they are not obligated to do that.

A TSB is just a helpful tool so that dealers don't have to spend hours diagnosing a problem. It provides the dealer with the symptoms and the correct action for fixing a problem that has been known to plague similar vehicles.

I noticed the same thing then by accident found the TSB here. Printed it off & asked the service guys @ my dealership about my '04. They said that yes the '04s can be toned down in brightness.

Have you had this done to your '04 yet? My shop says it can't be done without a software fix from Chevy.
