I read in an old post, that you described the exact same clunk in your front suspension like I'm having(stock 98 Z71). When I hit a speed bump or something similar, my right front suspension clunks and sounds like something is loose. I also hear/feel it under the floorboard where the right torsion bar anchors. It was fine one minute and clunking the next. I'm thinking one or both control arms on the right side is loose. Are there alignment shims in these front ends that can fall out and cause immediate looseness? p.s-I could not find the post to explain what you found, thanks Lou in Florida.

If the control arm/arms bolts have loosened, does this mean a front end alignment is necessary?

Someone told me it was a loose bolt and when they do an alignment they tighten it up. I havent had the clunk since this summer and I havent had an alignment. I checked everything i could under the truck and everything was normal. I did read something somewhere that someone had a similar noise and it turned out to be the air box under the hook wasnt secured down and it made a clunk noise. I dnt know what to tell you I havent figured it out and I havent heard it in awhile

Hey Bros., bad news-truck needs new ball joints both sides upper and lower. Tech said lower ball joints on both sides really shot. Truck has 73,000 miles and I'm the third owner. I'm gonna hold off for a couple of weeks and get christmas behind me. Cost to replace ball joints both sides upper and lower(parts and labor) $535.00. OUCH!
