I've seen a few examples on here but I was wondering if anyone else could share their experience with installing a headache rack and which ones they have used. I live down the road from the Magnum shop and was thinking of getting the Lo Pro model since I don't want the rack to stick up over the cab however I have concerns with it potentially blocking my 3rd brake light and my rear view mirror camera.

I had my backrack custom made thru "backrack" they will do whatever demensions u want

Just had them leave top flat and height from cross bar under 2 inches...no problem and built and to me in 2 weeks4b2d1467eefc899a8d552098cd2b7fd4.jpg044bc2ae4dc8357219e7727a5d7cefb3.jpgf64cb0ecae1820634771a751023922b1.jpg

I'm looking into magnum and royalty core. I just spoke to someone at magnum and they ensured me that all of the models made for the 2020 WILL NOT cover the third brake light/cameras.

I also spoke to them a few weeks ago and I would say they were less committal to me for some reason.

In either case, I came across some other posts from user @Major Tom where he mentions that he was able to mount a Low Pro Magnum without interference for the camera and even shows a few pictures where he mounted a lightbar and shows the rack.

Thanks for your response, I had no idea that Backrack made custom racks. I like their louvered model and I will reach out about whether the stock unit would interfere with the camera and if a custom made unit would be needed. My intention is also to be able to add a spreader bar and rear rack to carry an aluminum boat or kayaks so I will confirm the load rating.

Any chance you can send the link to that post? I’d like to see some pictures of it on the 2020

This one is where he mentions his Magnum rack install.

And here he discusses taking the power feed hidden near the 3rd brake light to power a lightbar. After looking at it again, there's only one picture showing mostly the lightbar, but you can see the top of the rack just over the cab. I PMed him and asked for more pictures if he didn't mind.

Also I called Magnum again and this time they assured me the 2020 and any newer GM are designed with the extra height because of the cameras. It must have just been the rep I spoke with last time.

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
