Updated PCV Valve

TJake and I have been sending messages back and forth to eachother concerning a chirping like noise that we both have coming from the engine compartment, especially de-celeration. He had is belt tensioner & alternator replaced, problem still existed. I had my belt replaced under warranty, problem is still there. His dealer finally figured out that the problem was his PCV valve. The dealer replaced it and the noise is gone! I will replace mine this weekend...I was looking in the guides section on how to replace it and it talks about a new PCV valve...it is known as a "fixed orifice valve" or something like that. Can you buy these at your local Autozone? Should I use this newer updated one even though my motor is not consuming oil? What is the typical time frame to replace this valve? I only have 50,000 on mine, and the part is only a few bucks, so i'll do it anyways...

The PCV valve just pushes into the valve cover and a

hose is connected to the other end. Real easily done

in about 5 min. or less.

I have not updated mine yet but plan to shortly.

That new PCV is orificed. Just a small hole. I have had it for a while. I had to get mine at a GM dealership. Was pretty cheap too. Take a look into your intake. If it is oil covered right behind the throttle plate, go get the new PCV! Then clean your TB.

Update: So I just pulled out my PCV valve, and it is the newer version with no moving parts inside. I have a 2002 that I purchased in February of 2002. Interesting, huh? I am trying to stop a chiping like noise that comes from it...maybe i'll try the other kind with the ball inside it and see what that does.
