4.8 to a 5.3 Replacement

Currently have a 2001 GMC sierra pick up with a 4.8 L V8. Can this be swapped to a 5.3 liter? This is a spare pick up I purchased new and is in great condition. Considering making it a sleeper and putting in a stroker long block with a nice exhaust system. This would be using a 5.3 block. Is this doable in this truck and will all the components swap correctly? Thank you

Yes, it's basically a direct swap, especially if the same year.

Just requires a calibration change if it's stock for stock.

I would consider a 6.0l if you're wanting it to be a sleeper. Also A direct swap that will only need a tune.
